Fort Family: Nick Fancher

Nick Fancher is quick to listen, and slow to brag about authoring books, or drop client names like Apple or IBM. They don’t just hire him because he’s a nice guy. It’s what he can do “in-camera,” without Photoshop: just Nick and minimal gear, combining experimental methods with dramatic lighting. He’s also known for working in unconventional locations and hosting lighting workshops all over the world.

Here at The Fort, Nick was the first tenant to complete a custom-built space at 2000 South High.

Why did you choose The Fort?

Nick: If I could imagine my dream space, it’d be my studio at The Fort. Not only are their renovations to the building wonderful from a functional standpoint (new windows, fast internet, etc), they also retained the character of the building. I have all the things I could need or want in a work space: plenty of light, high ceilings, classically beautiful character. It’s a cherry on top that there are also many other creatives as my new neighbors. Having a creative community combined with an affordable, stunning space to work in is truly a dream come true.
